Factory software development: MES, MRP and WMS that work on the shop floor

Full-cycle software development: web apps, mobile apps, IoT, ERP, POS, dashboards, websites, and landing pages — designed, built, and deployed with CI/CD and ongoing support.

Short answer for ERP buyers

iReadCustomer builds custom software for factories: material and production planning (MRP), recording work orders, scrap and downtime from the line on tablets or barcodes (MES), and receiving, put-away, picking and issuing with lot tracking (WMS), connected to the ERP or accounting system you already run. A typical project takes 15–35 man-days, THB 119,850–279,650 at the starting rate of THB 7,990 per man-day. We do not program machine control (PLC/SCADA).

Workflow and price model reviewed:

From a shop-floor walk to a plant-wide rollout

Start with one line or one area, then expand once the data is stable. All of our factory work is under NDA, so this page describes scope and method without naming clients or quoting their numbers.

  1. 1. Shop-floor walk and data map

See where work orders, material issues, output, scrap and stock are recorded today, on paper, in Excel or in which system, and who decides from those numbers.

  2. 2. Choose a pilot line or area

Define an MVP for one line or one warehouse, with the measures to watch afterwards, such as time to close a work order, scrap per shift or stock variance.

  3. 3. Master data: items, BOMs, routings and work centres

Align item codes, BOMs, routings, work centres and units first, because MRP and MES calculate everything from them.

  4. 4. Line and warehouse screens for tablets or barcodes

Start and finish jobs, record scrap and downtime, receive, put away and pick, designed for the fewest taps and for the agreed behaviour when the network is unstable.

  5. 5. Connect the ERP or accounting system and pilot

Send output, material issues and stock back to the existing ERP, run UAT with real line operators, and train by role.

  6. 6. Roll out and report

Extend to other lines or warehouses once the pilot data is stable, with output, scrap and downtime per shift reported from what is actually recorded.

Factory software planning budget

This model assumes 1 plant, 1–2 pilot lines or warehouses and one ERP or accounting integration, priced at the starting rate of THB 7,990 per man-day within our published web-app band. It is not a market price or a fixed quote.

Pricing boundary: The example total is about 15–35 man-days, or THB 119,850–279,650. It excludes hardware (tablets, scanners, label printers), ERP licences, PLC/SCADA work and machine-connectivity devices.

Recurring costs to keep separate

  • Server or cloud, backups and monitoring
  • Shop-floor devices, labels and spares
  • Licences of the connected ERP or accounting system
  • Support, improvements and change requests

Inputs for a real estimate, and what is not included

  • Process flow of the pilot line, sample BOMs, routings and current reports
  • The ERP or accounting system to connect and how it accepts data
  • Devices already on the floor and in the warehouse, and network coverage
  • Machine-control programming (PLC/SCADA) is not included; it belongs to the automation contractor

Factory-specific acceptance criteria

  • Output and scrap per work order match what is sent to the ERP
  • Scanned receipts, issues and transfers reconcile with stock counts
  • A finished-goods lot traces back to its raw-material lots
  • Defined behaviour when the line network drops, with no lost or duplicated records on reconnect
  • Role permissions for operators, shift leads and warehouse staff

Factory software questions

How are MES, MRP and WMS different from ERP?

ERP runs accounting, purchasing, sales and company-level stock. MRP plans materials and production, MES records what actually happens on the line, and WMS manages stock movements in the warehouse. Factory software usually connects to the existing ERP instead of replacing it.

Do you program PLCs or SCADA?

No. We build planning and recording software; machine control belongs to the automation contractor. If a machine already exposes its data, reading it is scoped as separate extra work.

How much does factory software cost?

The visible planning example is 15–35 man-days, or THB 119,850–279,650 at the starting rate of THB 7,990 per man-day, under the stated assumptions. Hardware, licences and PLC/SCADA work are separate.
